When you’re launching your new business, it can be overwhelming. You want to bring your vision to life, but you have a hard time knowing where to start. You might not be a designer, but you really want to make sure all your marketing materials look cohesive and make sure your potential customers remember you.
So how do you do that?
Well, it’s actually a lot simpler than you might think.
Here are 5 ways to make sure your small business looks cohesive, unique, and professional in your digital marketing campaigns:
1. Pick your brand color scheme and stick to it
Think about it. Wouldn’t it be weird if UPS started using another color besides brown? Absolutely! Why? Because we have become so accustomed & familiar with their branding. To make sure your brand has a cohesive look no matter what you post, make sure you’re sticking to your chosen brand colors. If you’re not sure where to start & don’t know what colors look good together, try Coolors.co/ to generate a selection of complimenting colors that fit your business. If you’re unsure of which colors really suit your industry, we recommend looking into color theory as well as the feelings of colors to help you choose something viable to what you’re looking to achieve with your customers.
2. Commit to a set of fonts & ALWAYS use them
Nothing is more cringey than a business Instagram account that doesn’t stick to a font group. Mismatching fonts for professional marketing on social media often feels cheap and looks tacky. When picking fonts, you want to have a header font, a sub-header font, and a body font. All of these fonts should work together to create readable content for your reader. If you’re unsure of what fonts might look best together, a quick Google search for “which fonts look good together” will get you a lot of great combinations you can snag for free! In the above graphic example, we are using Onyx as our main header font and Antenna for our sub-header/body font.
3. When designing, create content that looks good together
When you see big brands making content, it always looks really put together. Obviously, they have a team and you’re just one person, so what can you do? If you’re not a Photoshop pro, don’t worry. You don’t have to be. With websites like Canva.com, you can create content with no experience using your colors and fonts all while making things look super professional. You can be on par with those big brands from the comfort of your own home. As you can see in our examples, we use similar colors, elements, and fonts in order to create content that looks good next to one another.
4. Talk in a voice that is cohesive with your audience
When Wendy's posts their crazy Twitter updates, we assume they’re talking to young people. It would be wildly out of place for a corporate business to be making tweets like that. Make sure that when you’re writing captions, blogs, and website content, that you are sticking to a voice that feels unique to your business. Are you fun? Are you serious? Are you business casual? Are you witty? Are you a mixture? All of these questions can be answered in order to make written content feel aligned with your business. TW Media always aims to be educational and informative so each written piece is created to be just that!
5. Cohesive usernames are a MUST
Sometimes it’s not possible, but cohesive usernames make finding you online so much easier. If your IG username is AestheticMediaOfficial but your TikTok name is just AestheticMedia, it can get confusing. If you have to get creative, then try your best to make it work! If you need to add underscores or periods to make sure you can claim the name, don’t be afraid to do it. Cohesive marketing is very effective and shouldn't be downplayed. TW Media is @tiannawintersmedia on pretty much every platfrom for consistency!
There’s a million ways to market your business online, but we believe that it’s best when you’re proud of it. When you implement these 5 branding strategies, we are confident that you will see your vision come to life.
